Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone.

I have an All-In-One HP desktop that Ive had for about 4 or so years.  A fab bit of kit that has had no issues ever however I was aware it was probably time to upgrade the hard drives just to keep everything running well. (and the C: drive is running out of space)

The machine has 2 x hard drives, an NVME 2242 drive  (OS) and a separate HDD (that's now been upgraded to an SSD).

The problem I'm having is with the new NVME drive not being seen by the computer for booting or installing and OS.  It's my intention to ave a completely clean install of windows 10 so initially just inserted the drive in exchange for the old one however it didn't show up.  I then took it out and formatted it and again, when put back in, nothing, doesn't seem to show up anywhere.  I even cloned the current OS to see if this would work.

I did put the NVME drive in a caddy and it works fine, OS coped, file copied and can be seen.

So to summarise, my new NVME drive isn't being seen as a drive so i can install an new OS.  Maybe a BIOS setting, I'm sure it something simple but I just can't think what to do.

Look forward to hearing some ideas.

Hi:

If the 128 GB M.2 SSD is a SATA drive and you installed a M.2 NVMe SSD, most likely your PC's M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 SSDs, and not NVMe.

That would be the only reason I can think of as to why the NVMe SSD is not being detected by the PC.

Hi:

What is the HP part number or drive model number of the original SSD HP installed?

The parts list is of no help (only shows the 1 TB drive), and the product specs just indicate it came with a 128 GB M.2 SSD.

OMG - Can't believe in my haste to buy a newer M2 drive I didn't pay attention.

Thanks so much for the support.  New drive purchased and hopefully here soon and installed.

Thanks.
