Hi there,

In an effort to try to get some more FPS in some specific games, I've used AMD Risen Master and enabled the curve optimiser, a little too much probably.

After that, the computer went into and Automatic Repair loop. I tried some more troubleshooting and removed the CMOS battery and done pretty much every step ChatGPT mentioned in terms of troubleshooting.

Currently I do not hear any beeps when starting up the computer, not even with any RAM or SSD installed. All fans are running, I'm not getting any screen, so I think the BIOS isn't loading?

Is it possible to reset the BIOS, maybe using a recovery drive?

Motherboard is Hana 202010-2 348 0BD31

Thanks again for your reply.

I didn't find time yet to **bleep**, BUT.. In a YouTube video, someone mentioned to remove the RAM, turn the PC on, turn back off, add RAM again, and turn back on. This brought the computer back to live!

Hi @Joey1337

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your PC with the Hana 202010-2 motherboard shows no display, no beeps, and all fans run continuously—even without RAM or SSD—it’s likely the BIOS is corrupted or locked due to the curve optimizer changes.

You can attempt a BIOS recovery using a USB method, but this board does not support BIOS Flashback, so recovery depends on whether the system can still initialize USB and power delivery.

Step-by-step actions to attempt BIOS recovery and restore startup

Perform a full CMOS and power drain reset

  • Unplug the power cable and remove the CMOS battery
  • Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
  • Reinsert the CMOS battery after 10 minutes
  • Reconnect power and try booting with only CPU and PSU connected (no RAM, SSD, or GPU)

Check for signs of POST

  • Watch for keyboard backlight, fan spin changes, or USB device activity
  • If no signs appear, the BIOS may not be initializing at all

Attempt USB BIOS recovery

  • On another PC, download the latest BIOS for your HP desktop from:
HP BIOS Updates – Desktop PCs
  • Format a USB drive to FAT32
  • Rename the BIOS file to HPBIOS.BIN or BIOS.BIN (if applicable)
  • Copy it to the root of the USB drive
  • Insert the USB into the affected PC and power it on
  • Wait up to 5 minutes to see if the system attempts recovery (no display required)

Test with minimal hardware

  • Remove all RAM, SSD, GPU, and peripherals
  • Try booting with only CPU and PSU connected
  • If the system still shows no signs of life, the BIOS or embedded controller may be locked

Use HP Hardware Diagnostics USB (if available)

Let me know if the system shows any signs of USB activity or if the fans behave differently after the CMOS reset—I’ll guide you through deeper recovery options.

You’ve done everything right by acting quickly and isolating the issue, and we’ll make sure your system has a path forward.

Thank you so much for your reply @Hawks_Eye.

I did Perform a full CMOS and power drain reset

Unfortunately this didn't change anything. Keyboard did not light up, fan speed did not change.

As for Attempt USB BIOS recovery

I had previously downloaded  sp162998.exe  and tried extracting this. This resulted in a 08876F23.EXE and I was unable to extract this further to any .bin or .fd file. Unless I simply need to rename this .EXE?

Use HP Hardware Diagnostics USB (if available)

Would this work if there is no keyboard activity to press ESC/F2?
