Hello,

For about a month now, my PC has been shutting down after a few minutes. Just pressing the power button keeps it running all day.

HP Slim PC S01 aF0002nf  (September 2020)

Windows 11 Home version 24H2 (OS build 26 100.4061)

Upgraded to Windows 11 in January 2023

Replaced the memory stick from 4 GB to 8 GB in February 2024.

Thank you for your response.

Greetings @mimachel

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Please elaborate.

I'm having a problem reconciling your first two statements.

Hello,

For about a month now, my PC shuts down after a few minutes when it starts up.

Once shut down, I restart it, and the PC works without stopping.

Greetings @mimachel

My pleasure.

Thanks for the clarification.

That's a tough one to diagnose since your PC seems to work okay after doing a second power on.

What happens when you do a restart using the Windows Start Menu?

A flaky PC power button can do weird stuff. The power button could be sending a shutdown signal to the MB because it is slowly  failing or sticking on first use due to gunk or dust. I don't know!

You have a "super" intermittent PC problem. Your PC also exhibits consistent failure behavior. But your PCs behavior is, from my perspective, very unusual.

I can only say your PC has some type of hardware problem.

Maybe go back to the HP factory installed RAM since you have replaced the HP factory RAM.

You can also check your PC's hardware, using the new RAM, as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run extensive system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem.

Hello,

The second boot is identical to the first, nothing special; the only difference is that the PC runs until the evening without stopping.

I upgraded the memory stick to avoid packet errors.

It was 91% with 4GB, down to 44% with 8GB.

Cleaning the inside of the PC is a good idea.

Sincerely,

Good move.

A clean PC, inside and outside, is a happy PC?
