HP Compac 8200 Elite
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Problem is I reinstalled Win 7 Pro 64 bit and have installed most all of the drivers and it seems to be working good except for windows update and in device manager under other devices PCI simple communications controller I am missing a driver Code 28 I have read that I may need the hardware ID to get the proper driver so here it is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_1495103C&REV_04

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_1495103C

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&CC_078000

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&CC_0780

Hi:

You need this driver for that device...

This package contains the Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) Driver for supported models running a supported operating system.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69506.exe

I have two 8200 Elite CMT's so I know that is the driver you need...

Your computer is running correctly without those device-drivers -- correct?

In a "corporate network" environment, where there is a centralized system-administrator who is authorized to remotely update all the computers in the network, there is a need to install those "missing" device-drivers.

In a "home" computer situation, you do not need to install those device-drivers.

Do you need to "upset the apple cart", by installing those device-drivers?

I was wondering if they would cure the windows update problem. I did install the drivers and the computer seems to be working OK but the windows update problem is still there. When you search for updates it just hangs.

Thanks

Hi, Pat:

Regarding the Windows Update issue, see this related post, and try our two suggestions offered.

The person stated 'it' worked, but didn't say which one worked...
