My father has the beginnings of dementia and cannot remember the email and or recovery options for his Microsoft account on our HP Pavilion desktop. Is there a way to delete his Microsoft account off of the computer without losing our pictures and other personal information on our hard drive?

I am sorry about that, Tina.
I understand this is a disaster of larger magnitude than loss of a simple password.
Bad news:
We cannot help.
It does not mean you lose everything, it means you need to get help from Microsoft.
If all else fails, (all online support) a licensed Microsoft technician can likely help access the computer.
Side Note - Be Careful and Stay Alert
If anyone sends you a private message, or an email, or "anything" claiming that a mystery person will help you - please consider it is likely a scam. These bad people will promise all sorts of impossible and magical help if you would just give them a credit card number and let them into your computers.
The official word on the subject...
