I would like to find the paths to the apps opened by the two Taskbar icons: "HP Support Assisant" and "MyHP". (I'm using a Windows 11 desktop.)

Both Google and HP's Support AI list the executables as
HPSupportAssistant.exe and on some machines as HPSF.exe
and MyHP.exe
and the paths as some folder or subfolder of:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework
C:\Program Files\HP\MyHP.exe

I do not have any .exe files anywhere on my computer that match any of those names.

HP phone support rep claims those .exe files are all third party apps but I don't believe it.

I've tried everything I can think of to find the apps that
the two icons link to (and do open) and cannot locate the
apps. Thank you for any advice.

Greetings @ParkerA

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Those HP items are usually located in the Windows system tray near the time and date display.

Open Task Manager.

Then select Startup Apps.

Right click on the App if the App is in the Startup Apps list.

Select open file location.

This should zero in on the file you are looking for.

Thank you for your reply. If you mean the icons (vs "items") are located in the Windows system tray, I agree. I'm looking for the
apps (paths to the apps) that the icons link to.
The apps that open when the icons are clicked are not listed in Startup Apps. The app for "HP Support Assistant" is listed in: Programs > Apps > Installed Apps.
The entry for "HP Support Assistant" shows:
     Publisher: HP Inc.
(confirming, I believe, that the HP support rep is wrong and it's not a 3rd party app.)
     Verson 9:49.5.0
     Date 2.04 MB
     Total usage: 2.04 MB
I have no clue about where the app is located (for either HP Support Assistant or the MyHP app) on the computer
and no clue if HP changed the apps names so that when the icons are clicked and the apps opens, the .exe files (or other
files) that actually have been triggered are actually named "secretfile.something" and not "hpsupportassistant.exe" and
myhp.exe.

Just FYI, The path to the .ico file and the path to the .dll file used by the HP Support Assistant app were easy
to find.

Much info is available about how to disable and/or remove the apps but for unknown reasons, the location of the apps and
the names of the apps are mysteries.

Who would know the names and paths of these two apps?
On some HP computers they are hpsupportassistant.exe and myHP.exe but not on mine or others who have on various
media asked the same question before me.  Thanks for any replies.

Greetings @ParkerA

My pleasure.

I can locate specific file locations for many items in the system tray using Task Manager>Startup apps.

You might be able to find additional file locations you can't find now using Autoruns.

Maybe a different Forum member can assist.
