Hi,

After a restart my laptop became unuseable (HP Pavilion x360 - 13-s101la (ENERGY STAR).

It sounds like it starts, but, the screen never shows any content and the Caps Lock key blinks in a patter of 2 shorts blinks and 2 long blinks. After a while, I found an HP page that mentions that it is a BIOS issue, not sure if it really is; but I already upgraded the hard drive in that laptop, so it no longer has the original HP partitions. And I've been browsing the HP support web, but I haven't found the BIOS installer to create a BIOS RECOVERY FLASH DRIVE.

I would really apreciate any help!

Hi:

Below are the info and exe file links to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.28):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96001-96500/sp96175.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96001-96500/sp96175.exe

I ran the file and unfortunately, it does not allow you to create a USB BIOS recovery flash drive, so I am afraid yo will either have to take the PC in to a repair shop that has the ability to reflash the BIOS with the above file or you'll have to replace the system board.

Thanks a lot Paul_Tikkanen!!

I'll research a little bit more to see if I'm able to work with it!!

And if You know of anything else that could help, I'll appreciate the tip!

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, BIOS recovery procedures beyond following the HP guidance are outside of my knowledge area.

These are the normal procedures and since the file wouldn't open to create a USB BIOS recovery flash drive, that is where I could go no further.
