So last night I was doing some pretty routine windows updates, and saw a bios update under optional stuff. I started it, and eventually the update came to the screen in the attached image. It's been stuck in a loop of doing BIOS recovery, giving me the "The System BIOS recovery failed - Verification of Disc Image failed"

Not really sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.Media(2).jpg

Hi @SamB42,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding BIOS Update Failure on HP Pavilion!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Forced BIOS Recovery:

  • Power down the laptop completely and disconnect any external devices.
  • Hold Down the Power Button: Simultaneously press the 'Windows' and 'B' keys while also holding down the 'Power' button for 2-3 seconds, then release it. This might initiate a forced BIOS recovery process.

Creating a BIOS Recovery USB:

  • Use another computer to download the latest BIOS file for your specific laptop model from HP Customer Support.
  • Follow the instructions to create a BIOS recovery USB device.
  • Insert the USB drive into your stuck Pavilion and attempt the BIOS recovery as per the forced initiation instructions.

Clear CMOS Battery:

  • If comfortable, access the computer internals, and try resetting the BIOS by removing and reinserting the CMOS battery after a few minutes. This might help clear any BIOS discrepancies.

I hope this helps.
