Hi @Rollee

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your concern. If your HP PC is stuck on "Preparing Automatic Repair" in Windows 10, it can indicate that Windows is unable to complete the startup process correctly.

Please try the following steps:

Perform a hard reset:

  • Turn off the PC.
  • Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse.
  • If it is a laptop, disconnect the charger and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect power and turn the PC back on.

Access HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Power on the PC and repeatedly tap F2.
  • Run System Tests > Fast Test.
  • If available, also run the Extensive Test on the hard drive or SSD.

Try Windows Startup Repair:

  • Turn the PC on and off using the Power button three times during startup.
  • Windows should open the Recovery Environment.
  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

If Startup Repair does not help:

  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point created before the issue started, if available.

If the PC still does not start:

  • From Advanced Options, select Uninstall Updates and remove the latest quality update.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
