Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and I see that your computer is not booting up.

I'll try my best to help and hopefully we should be able to sort this out 😀

May I know since when are you facing this issue?

If this issue started recently, you can perform a System Restore to an earlier time when it was working

- Shut down the computer completely.
- Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second, until you see the Windows loading screen.
- If a language selection screen opens, select the language you want to use to continue.
- On the Choose your keyboard layout screen, select the keyboard layout that matches your keyboard type.
- On the Choose an option screen, click Troubleshoot.
- On the Troubleshoot screen, click Advanced Options.
- On the Advanced options screen, click System Restore.
- Click Windows 10 as the target operating system.
- The System Restore window opens. Click Next.
- Click the restore point that you want to use, and then click Next.
- The Confirm Restore Point window opens.
-Click Finish to restore your computer to a previous point.
- Do not interrupt System Restore when it starts. Doing so can corrupt your hard drive and create more problems. Click Yes in the warning that appears.
- System Restore returns the computer configuration to a previous point in time and restarts.

If the System Restore fails, I suggest you run a Test on the Hard drive to confirm the Hardware Functionality before we proceed 👍

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Hard drive

Please perform these steps patiently and let me know how it goes

Have a Wonderful Day. Thank you 😀

Hi,

The same thing is happening with mine too. Goes black after turning it on and says preparing automatic repair. I have tried F11 on start up but says please wait and again screen goes blank.

I also done the hard drive testing test and all have passed no errors showing.

What else can I do?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
  • Did you make any changes in the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • What is the operating system

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting back.

Let's try this workaround: Upon the 'Preparing automatic repair' window, press-and-hold Power button 3 times to forcefully shut down the machine. The system will enter boot repair page after 2-3 times of reboot, choose Troubleshoot, then go on to Refresh PC or Reset PC.

If this fails then you need to reinstall windows Operating system: The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have the same problem. F11 does nothing. I cannot get into safe mode. Turning the machine on and off 3 times did not access recovery menu. I have made a bootable disk on an USB external drive but cannot access it. Nothing gets past the black SOD. HELP!
