This system was upgraded from Vista to Win7 and running fine until HDD failure. New HDD was installed, but when trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7, I get the message: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.".
I am able to successfully use the Vista restore disks to get an OS on the system, but it is so sloooooooow.
Any suggestions?

BRSING...
You might try the advice in the answers here:
I recommend starting with the first page, reading the information there, and then moving to the last page and work backwards for ideas. You may want to first try the idea about changing the BIOS setting from AHCI to SATA mode for the system hard drive. This seems easy enough to try and then also undo.
This information may work for you, although I am not familiar with the source. The video could be helpful:

Please post back the results. I think the video is the way to go for this issue, and hopefully it will resolve the loop. If you add a password, remember to write it down so you don't forget it...

OK, the thread I posted is all about this loop. Read over the options in the thread and look for a way to get to command prompt. From there, you should be able to use either of the techniques in the video.
Keep us updated.
