Details of problem are given below. As it only occurs on one of my two HP desktops (see below), perhaps one of you HP experts could advise?

It may be a problem at Microsoft's end as I have read that the Feature Update has problems with NVidea graphics cards.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Problems with Feature Update to Windows 10 version 2004

Windows Update on Patch Tuesday 9th June 2020 for HP Pavilion 550-100na Desktop

2020-6 Security Update for Adobe Flash player for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4561600)

Successfully Installed on 09/06/2020

2020-6 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4560960)

Successfully Installed on 09/06/2020

System restart carried out to complete installation of the above two items.

Option then selected to download and install Feature Update to Windows 10 version 2004. Download, installation, and multiple restarts took 2-3 hours. After final restart (and after “Hi”, “We are getting things ready for you”, etc.) an error message dialogue box stated words similar to:

No graphics drivers are installed, or the graphics software is not working properly

Use of “Check for Updates” within Windows Update resulted in the automatic download and installation of two further items, then a prompt to restart. After restart, the same error message was shown. The desktop was then shut down for the night.

The following day, it was fortunately possible to reload a system image (taken two days earlier) to restore the desktop to working order. The graphics software and drivers were then updated - the graphics driver & graphics software details installed on the desktop are given below. A new system image was then created. The Feature Update to Windows 10 version 2004 was then again downloaded and installed. Again, after final restart (and again after “Hi”, “We are getting things ready for you”, etc.) the same error message dialogue box came onto the screen. The newly created system image was then reloaded to restore the desktop to working order.

Note that no problems with the graphics software and drivers were encountered prior to the two installations of the Feature Update to Windows 10 version 2004.

Note also that the Patch Tuesday updates were also carried out on an ASUS X556UA laptop and an HP Envy 750-279na desktop. In both cases, the two updates KB4561600 and KB4560960 were shown, downloaded, installed, and the systems restarted without problems. Windows Update did not offer the option to download / install “Feature Update to Windows 10 version 2004” on either the ASUS laptop or the HP Envy desktop.

@tbcda

MS has serious issues with this Update.  The list started out short but has been growing every week.  If your PC is affected by any item on the list then you are STUCK, as MS will not release any schedule as to when ANY of these items expect to be fixed.

Here is the thread from MS about these issues: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004

Thanks for yuor advice a month or so ago.

Do you think the feature update has 'matured' enough to be worth trying to install again - or would you recommend holding off for another week / month / year?    🙂

Best Regards ...
