I have a HP Pavilion a6460t running Windows 10. I've switched to Edge and my system is deathly slow. When I was directed to download Windows 11 I got a " your processor is not compatible with Windows 11. What can I do to upgrade my computer to run Edge and Windows 11.

Your PC's hardware/BIOS does not meet any of Microsoft's W11 requirements.
It does not have a UEFI BIOS.
It does not support Secure Boot
It does not have a TPM 2.0 security device.
It does not have an Intel 8th generation core processor (minimum W11 Intel processor requirement).
In summary, there is nothing you can do to your PC to have it support W11.
If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3.
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
Although, if your PC is running slow on W10, I don't think upgrading to W11 will help any,
Unfortunately, I don't know why switching to MS Edge would have caused your PC to run slow.
Try Google Chrome or Firefox and see if that makes any improvement.
