HP Compaq dc7700 Small Form Factor
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello! I have an old computer, exactly an HP Compaq Dc7700 Small Form Factor, and today I decided to replace its processor. I replaced the original processor, ie an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 with an Intel Q6600 and when I start the computer I get the "1802-Processor not supported" massage, can I make it work?

Hi:

No Quad core processor will work in your PC.  Not even a BIOS or microcode update will allow one to work.

Below is the list of supported processors (pages 7 & 8.  The best you can do is the Conroe E6700.
