HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-b227c

I was trying to update my pc when it restarted and brought me to bitlocker I tried reboot but then it brought me to “HP Recovery Manager, Restoration Incomplete, The Restoration did not complete. Please select one of the following buttons: Save Log, Details, Retry”. I tried all the buttons and nothing seemed to get solved, however whenever I clicked Details, it always read “The process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal...” and it kept repeating below in separate lines along with another phrase “There might be unexpected reboot during [Windows Setup].” Everytime I click the exit button it restarts and takes me to the same page after logging in again

Hi @Eddie130,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering a problem with your HP Pavilion All-In-One PC, where you're stuck in a loop between BitLocker and HP Recovery Manager. The error message you're receiving suggests that the restoration process is failing, and it's indicating a "CTO panic" issue. CTO often stands for "Configure to Order," which implies that something might be wrong with the configuration or the recovery image on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Backup Important Data: Before attempting any troubleshooting, ensure you have a backup of your important files. You might need to perform a clean reinstallation, which can result in data loss.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that there are no hardware issues causing this problem. Run a hardware diagnostics test if your computer has that option.

Disconnect External Devices: Disconnect any external devices (e.g., USB drives, external hard drives) from your computer. Sometimes, these devices can interfere with the recovery process.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Try booting your computer into Safe Mode, if possible. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and may help bypass the issue.

BitLocker Troubleshooting:

  • If BitLocker is causing the issue, you might need to unlock the drive using the recovery key. You can usually find this key in your Microsoft account if it's connected to your PC.

HP Recovery Manager:

  • In some cases, the issue may be with HP Recovery Manager itself. You can try downloading the latest version of HP Recovery Manager from the HP website and installing it.

Perform a Clean Windows Installation:

  • If all else fails, you might need to perform a clean installation of Windows. You can create a bootable Windows USB drive using the Media Creation Tool provided by Microsoft. Boot from the USB drive and follow the instructions to reinstall Windows.

Keep in mind that performing a clean installation of Windows should be a last resort, as it will erase all data on your PC. Therefore, be sure to back up any important files before proceeding with this option.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
