HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-ca1000i (4N599AV)

Did a factory reset. During recovery I get the recovery attempt has failed. Select one of the following buttons. Save log, details, retry. Retry it says insert system recovery media. I put the USB in that has the recovery on it, and it does nothing. Just sits on this screen. I cant click anything.  I've turned it off and back on pressing ESC and go through the boot system to try and select USB, it doesn't give me the option at all. I've tried to unplug it and hold the power button to "wipe it clean' it comes back to this screen. When I power off and back on hitting ESC and go into recovery it says your PC needs to be repaired, the boot configuration data file doesn't contain valid information for an operating system (even though I downloaded it from this website) File:/BCD Error code: 0xc0000098 You;ll need recovery tools if I press F1 to enter recovery enviroment screen goes black then comes right back to this same blue screen. Press Esc for UEFI firmware settings it goes to the boot menu.  Can I do a factory reset again? How? Everything I've tried doesn't work. I did all the test on the PC and everything passed. I tried to just install Windows 10 from a bootable usb drive, it wouldn't give me the option then either.

Hi @GAgirl413,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with performing a recovery on your PC.

- Please click on this link for information on how to perform a recovery on your Laptop using the HP cloud recovery tool.  (Take a backup of the data before performing a recovery)

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Insert the recovery USB flash drive into a USB port on the laptop.

6) Then turn on the laptop and immediately press the esc key until the Start Up menu opens, and then press f9 to access the boot device menu.

7) Select the USB flash drive from which you want to boot and follow the on screen instructions to perform a recovery.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

I already tried the power drain, it didn't work.  Once I finally got it to boot up from the usb, it starts the install and then stops giving me the error that there is a missing media drive and it can not install. I've done everything I've found with regards to fix that, and even though I put drives on the usb, it does not reconize them. I've tried multiple usb's wiped them and started over, still nothing. I've given up. I'll have to pay someone I guess.
