Hi @Grail2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on what I see, your HP desktop is currently showing a Windows Recovery screen, which typically appears when:

  • Windows fails to boot properly
  • System files are corrupted
  • A recent update or driver installation caused instability
  • There’s a hardware issue affecting startup

What You Can Do Now

1. Try Startup Repair

If the screen offers a “Startup Repair” option:

  • Select it and let Windows attempt to fix boot issues automatically.

2. Use System Restore

If available:

  • Choose System Restore to roll back to a previous working state.

3. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Select Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart
  • Press F4 or F5 to boot into Safe Mode
  • From there, you can uninstall recent updates or drivers

4. Use HP UEFI Diagnostics

  • Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly
  • Choose F2 for diagnostics
  • Run System Test and Hard Drive Test

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
