OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0013dx

I have been getting the "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" stop code error every time within 10 minutes of using my laptop for the last couple of days. It does not seem to matter what I am running, it happens with Google and gaming applications. The only thing I have done differently or installed was the recent update last week for Windows, since then I have not made any changes to my computer. I have tried to reset my laptop but the code reappears while it tries to reset so I am really not sure what to do here.  Running on Windows version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1702) if any of that information is helpful. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi @BMorty

This is a strange error. You can boot the PC and load Windows. But you get a boot device error code when using Windows.

Windows Update has been pushing some buggy firmware updates to certain HP product lines. Can't say this is your problem. Can you recall the specific recent Windows updates which were installed? Check Update History in Settings, Windows Update.

I would run HP Diagnostic to check hardware, it sounds like you may have a boot device problem. This error normally appears when doing a cold start using the power button.

Start the PC. Tap "ESC".

Select "F2". Run system and component tests.

Try doing a System restore to a point prior to the last Windows update. This option may fail since you cannot do a Windows reset.

Check this Microsoft site. Scroll down to "If you are able to boot Windows" troubleshooting steps.

First time I have seen a problem like this. Can't determine what has happened.

You should be able to restart Windows in safe mode by depressing and holding the "Shift" key when using the Start Menu to restart Windows. Maybe this will reset disk drivers.

Regards

Unfortunately now my computer won’t boot past the black screen diagnostics, it passed all of the tests. I can access Omen’s setup utility but cannot boot back to Windows at all.. afraid I’ll need to just take it in because I don’t want to take apart the hardware. Thank you for your help!
