Compaq elite 8300
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Friend has a 8300 SFF desktop, HDA is non functional, thus recovery partition is unable to be used. Current OS was Win 7  Pro.

 

Helped before, In Australia so prefer downloads 🙂

Sorry, you are basically out of luck where HP Recovery Media is concerned.

 

First, HP does not provide downloads; instead, you have to PURCHASE the media and it is usually in DVD or USB stick form.

 

Second, HP no longer carries the Win7 recovery media.

Okay, confirmed that HP no longer supports Win 7 media, so with help from another friend we grabbed a clonezilla image of the recovery partition. from another 8300. A short while later, one new drive with a working Windows 7 OS.

 

Tip for the unwary, let the recovery run first, then adjust the partition table to suit.
