 Hi  @Gators86

Hard disk (3F0)  is a common boot error seen in HP models which indicates your computer fails to detect the hard drive that contains the operating system. When you receive these errors, the PC will fail to boot, due to undetectable bootable disk or boot sectors. The hard disk cannot support the system boot process because the BIOS failed to make the connection with the boot device.

To start your computer normally, you will need to perform one of these actions:
1. HARD RESET YOUR PC
  • Turn off your PC.
  • Remove any docking station and unplug the AC adapter. Check and unplug any other external devices plugged in the PC.
  • Long press Power button to drain the remaining charge for 15 seconds.
  • On the Startup menu, navigate to Start Windows normally using your arrow keys.
  • e. Press Enter.
2.RESTORE BIOS SETTINGS
  • Turn on your PC and immediately press the F10 key a few times to enter the BIOS menu.
  • Press F9 to restore previous BIOS default settings on the setup menu.
  • Once the settings load, press F10.
  • Choose YES and then press the Enter key to save the changes.
  • Follow the wizard and restart accordingly.
3. RESET THE HARD DRIVE
  • Long press the Power button to switch off the PC.
  • Unplug the power socket from the outlet.
  • Disconnect the hard drive, and then reconnect it to the power supply and motherboard.
  • Start your PC again and observe if this solves the issue.

However, if the above actions fail to fix the issue, you have to recover data on the hard drive first and then fix the damaged hard drive.

Hi  @Gators86

A Hard Drive Boot Device Not Found 3F0 Error  is a common boot error occurs when the hard disk does not support the system boot process. During the booting process, the operating system loads into random access memory (RAM).  To accomplish this task, a setup process is initiated and the basic input-output system (BIOS) is assigned. The BIOS accesses some files from the hard disk, which is a bootable device. But when the hard drive is inaccessible, there is a 'Boot Device 3F0 Error' on the computer screen.

The possible causes of hard drive 3f0 error comprise of:

  • Incorrect boot sequence in the BIOS
  • Master Boot Record (MBR) or boot sector is damaged
  • Hard drive connection issue
  • Malware attack
  • Corrupt hard drive partitions
  • Damaged hard drive

Following are some solutions to fix this issue:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset
  2. Restore BIOS Default Settings
  3. Reset Hard Drive

However, if the above actions fail to fix the issue, you have to recover data on the hard drive first and then fix the damaged hard drive and If you have not backed up anything stored on that hard drive, you will need professional help to recover it.
