Where can I find a SM Bus Controller driver? My computer is not recognising my usb memory sticks and I am told that the problem is that under device manager the SM Bus Controller is showing that it does not have a driver and this is the answer.
Any help would be much appreciated
regards
Brian

Hi, Brian:
You need this driver for the smbus controller. The 2nd file down on the left side of the page is the auto install file.
Did you also install the USB3 driver? If not, download, unzip and run the setup application from the driver at the link below.

You're very welcome, Brian.
Unfortunately, if the drivers have been successfully installed, I wouldn't know why you can't read the files from the flash drive.
The only other suggestion I can offer would be to test another usb device in one of the usb ports and see if it works.

Hi Paul
I have three usb memory sticks and all of them are behaving in the same way.
If I select My Computer - it shows as Removable Disk(J:) - R.click- open - says " This folder is empty" but there are files on it.
I Have tried all three on my wife's computer and they all show up immediately and I am able to access the files.
Hoping you may be able to help
regards

Hi Paul
I have now reinstalled windows to try and resolve this issue. I reviously had wundows 7 64bit but now have windows 7 32bit.
I was wondering if the link you gave for the SM bus controller was still applicable as it will not install

You're very welcome, Brian.
Since the PC is new, and presumably under warranty, I recommend you contact HP technical support for further assistance with that problem.
By all respects, the flash drives should be working just fine.
It's not a driver problem if there are no devices with ! marks next to them in the device manager.
If the USB KB and mouse are working, it isn't a problem with the USB ports/drivers.
