I have an HP 280 G1 MT Intel Pentium G3250, OS Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
The Intel Driver & Support Assistant reports the motherboard product is 2B34 manufactured by HP.
In the device manager, SM Bus controller has yellow warning next to it
The hardware ID is as follow:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_2B34103C&REV_05
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_2B34103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&CC_0C0500
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&CC_0C05
Thank you

Yes, if it is no longer showing up in the device manager with a yellow warning ! mark next to it, the device has been successfully installed.
You will now see the SMBus Controller successfully installed and working properly in the device manager under the System Devices category in alphabetical order.

Hi:
Download the Intel chipset installation utility zip file from the link below...1st one on the left side of the page.
Right click on it, and select Extract All from the list.
Once the driver folder is created, open it and run the setup application.
If that doesn't get the smbus controller to install, try to manually install it as follows...
Go to the device manager and click on the smbus controller needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the unzipped chipset driver folder.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
