Spacing in E mail text

I would like to have a double space between sentences on my e mail.

I only get single space.

Press the "space-bar" key twice after typing the "period" to end the sentence.

Press the "Enter" key twice, after typing the "period" that ends a paragraph.

I have been doing as you suggested. 

I thought there was an icon I could click on to double space.
