Envy 750-409
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just moved my computer from the OEM computer case to an aftermarket.

The Odense2-S mobo only comes with 2 fan headers. (CPU and Back fan).

I attached a fan hub to the Back fan header so I can have more fans cooling the system.

Unfortunately, when I start up the system now, I get an error message concerning a system fan. I gives me 5s (I think) to press enter otherwise it shuts down.

I simply want to remove this error message.

There is nothing wrong with the system. I suspect an HP diagnostic system simply thinks the fan is not working because it does not detect a power draw from the fan header.

thank you.

Is "system fan" a synonym for "CPU fan" ? [Is "back fan" a synonym for "chassis fan"?]

Did you transplant the CPU/system heatsink/fan to the new motherboard?

Do you get the same error-message when NOTHING is attached to the "chassis fan" ?

Chassis fan is back fan for this case.

The only thing I changed here is using a fan controller on the "chassis" fan header.

All I really want is to turn off that the automated hp diagnostic.

The system runs fine, if that wasn't clear.

Would an adapter like:

Darkside SATA Power Adapter to 3-Way 3/4-Pin Fan Splitter Cable, 40cm, Black | eBay

work?

It connects to a SATA power cable from your power-supply, and allows you to attach multiple fans.

Use the "chassis" header on the motherboard to power your "back" fan, and the above adapter for your additional fans.

I'm using a thermaltake commander fp fan controller, 10 port hub. It's sata or molex powered.
