I currently have a desktop PC and when I try to start it up by powering it on, the first message that it gives is “IDE Device Failed” along with the startup menu. Then afterwards it gives me the message “No Option to Boot To.” But I am mainly trying to sign in so as to access all of my personal files, documents, icons and applications.

Are you trying to retrieve this stuff from the desktop to transfer it to a new PC?  Asking because you can't retrieve applications, and icons are only graphical symbols, not real things like files or apps.

No, I’m not trying to transfer my information to a new computer. I’m just trying to recover my computer back to normal.

OK, so this message indicates the internal drive has probably died -- and if that is the case, you will be unable to recover the desktop to get any of the data back.

I'm confused by the "IDE" message -- as IDE drives died out very long ago.  Drives nowadays are SATA.  So, how old is this desktop?
