Hi @Lucia041
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for explaining what’s happening—seeing that message when you power on your PC is alarming, especially when you’re not expecting it. I’m really sorry this has disrupted your work.
Let’s walk through how to recover your system safely and get it running again.
Step 1: Try Entering the Recovery Environment
If you haven’t already:
- Press F1 to enter the Recovery Environment.
- If it loads successfully, choose Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the prompts to let Windows attempt automatic repair.
If this doesn’t work or the recovery environment fails to load, continue below.
Step 2: Create a Recovery USB Using HP Cloud Recovery Tool
You’ll need another working PC to do this.
- Visit: HP Cloud Recovery Tool
- Download and install the tool.
- Enter your product number (e.g., X7S46UA#ABA) when prompted.
- Insert a USB drive (at least 32 GB) and create the recovery media.
- Insert the USB into your affected PC.
Step 3: Boot from the Recovery USB
- Power on your PC and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F9 to open the Boot Menu.
- Select the USB drive and press Enter.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.
Step 4: If HP Recovery Isn’t Available
You can use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool:
- Visit: Windows 10 Download
- Create a bootable USB and reinstall Windows manually.
Step 5: Check Storage Health (Optional but Recommended)
Before reinstalling, it’s wise to check if your storage drive is healthy:
- Power on and press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Run the Storage Test (Extended).
- If it fails, note the failure ID.
