Pavilion MS230z CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Pavilion MS230z which is currently running Windows 10.  I want to go back to Windows 7.  I got this computer from a relative a while ago and I'm just now using it. In the update section under recovery, it does not give me the option to roll back. I'm going to have to reinstall Windows 7, fresh from a USB drive. I have the Windows 7 product key, but when I go to download the file from Microsoft, I get this message:  "Error.  The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options."  I've checked in the Software and Drivers page, but it tells me that there's nothing for my computer.  Where do I got to download Windows 7?

Hi:

I can only find 3rd party specs on that model.

Does it come with W7 Professional 64 bit as indicated at the link below?

If so, here is the link to the W7 Pro x64 download file.  The link will be good for 24 hours from the time of this reply.

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so that it is bootable, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.

Since the above ISO file is a retail file and the product key you have is OEM, you may need to use the automated Microsoft phone activation system to activate the installation.

After W7 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
