HP Compaq 8000 Elite
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'd like to upgrade this HP 8000 Elite with a Samsung 860 Pro 512GB 2.5" SSD.

If I use one of the front panel USB 2.0 ports, and connect that SSD

via a standard USB 2.0 cable and a passsive USB 3.0-to-SATA adapter,

will the cable provide enough DC power to that SSD?

Here's that adapter at Newegg:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K2GU6134&Tpk=9SIA12K2GU6134

I have another option in a different USB 3.0 to IDE/SATA cable adapter,

which requires an external power supply.  But, I would prefer

to power the SSD with the DC power provided by the front panel USB 2.0 port.

What can you recommend, please?  Thanks!

I ordered one of these "dual" cables:

I'll let you know what happens.
