HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-044
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am unable to update my BIOS.  I tried several different ways and it keeps saying the bios couldn't be validated.  When I try to update by going to the Hardware UEFI (version 8.5) the directions online tell me to go to firmware management and that is not an option.  I have had this option in the past but it is no longer there.  When I use the online installer it says it was installed, restarts my computer and has the same validation issue.

The reason for the update is I am going to update my processor and need the most recent BIOS.

It is therefore in the compatible list, so give it a try, you will have less risk than if you miss the flash of the bios
If it does not work then either you return it to the seller, or you insist on trying to update the bios, which I do not recommend anyway, if none of them work as I could understand

pity that it is not mentioned with which version of the bios it came out, but see, a model originally delivered with the processor

if you have a compatible processor, the bios may not need to be updated

if the bios update does not work in general, it is better not to insist, a significant risk that the computer does not restart

Please run the HP Support Assistant, click on Device Specifications and verify that the System Board ID matches the ROM SSID listed by  @Prométhée

There are other BIOS available for model 550-044 but the one he listed is the latest (assuming the ROM id matches)

Thank you for the information.  I have attempted all avenues listed and still says could not be verified.

HP Recommended

The rom  id matches.  It just keeps saying could not validate.  It does not allow me to update the bios in the uefi screen.  Doesn’t give the option anymore.  It used to.

HP Recommended

As mentioned , do not insist ..
What previous version of the bios do you have?
If you have given me the correct computer model, that the cd is the motherboard, the SSID is correct, the update indicated corresponds to the motherboard
So unless there is an HP error in the document, I am certain
You want to install which processor, because maybe this update will be useless anyway, see what is mentioned

Updates the microcode for Intel processor security enhancement.

** After this BIOS update has been installed, previous BIOS versions cannot be reinstalled.

nothing else

1. Click the Download Only button.
2. At the File Download screen, click the Save button.
3. At the Save As screen, save the file to your Desktop.
4. If a message appears stating that the file already exists, click YES to overwrite file.
5. Double-click the icon to download the update to your desktop, and then click NEXT.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
7. If prompted to restart the system upon completion of the update, click YES and allow system to restart.

normally you shouldn't have to do anything more

I have version 80.08.

I have attempted downloading to the desktop and that just gives me same files that the bios says could not be validated.

Something strange is going on

HP versions the bios as

A0.01 Rev A

A0.02 Rev A

-

-

A0.17 Rev A

where are you seeing the 80.08?

Please download and run CPU-z  https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

bring up the "mainboard" dialog box

use the windows key + shift S and select that box and paste it

You may have a corrupted bios if the version is 80.08

Example of CPUz follows
