Hi

I have an all in one desktop AMD A9 - 9430 Radeon R5 computer which  have had for about 5 years with Windows 10 Home.  It has 8GB RAM.  When I attempted to upgrade to Windows 11 it would not do so, stating the processor was not compatible with Windows 11.

Is there anything I can reasonably do apart from getting a new computer?

Thanks

Hi:

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

When W11 24H2 comes out, things have changed a bit, so watch this video for how to update your W11 23H2 installation to 24H2.

How to install Windows 11 24H2 on Unsupported PC (Early Access) 2024 (youtube.com)

You might even be able to use this video to upgrade from W10 to 23H2.

Hi Paul,

Firstly, thank you for your response which is much appreciated.

Unfortunately the steps will take me out of my depth and I will surely drown.  This is not a reflection on your advice but more a realistic view on my limited computer skills and my advanced years (in my 70's).

I will probably stick with Windows 10 on this one, I don't need to get myself further in the poo given that it works in other respects.  I already have another computer which has W11 so that will have to take the strain for us.

Thanks,

Andy
