I have had to do a factory reset. It was completed overnight and I initiated a catch up of all Windows updates. Revision 1709 (OS build 16299.15) is now installed, and has again surfaced the same problems - uncontrollable  mouse and launch of applications.

Has anyone had that same problem with that build, and what was done to correct it?

Why did you feel you had to do a factory reset -- which is, unfortunately, generally not the right thing to do as those often fail and leave the PC in a compromised state.

After numerous fallback and diagnostic attempts, things looked pretty messed up. Thought this was my last resort. I'm currently past the point of the fall release Windows Fall release, and am in the process of installing the HP Support Assistant.  Fingers crossed.

Oh, OK.   I was just curious.

Then Good Luck and hope it finishes OK.
