Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you receive the message-"Unknown USB Device (link in Compliance Mode) Driver error",
Is this under device manager? if yes, you can always, right-click the driver and select "Update driver" to fix the issue.
If if doesn't update automatically, you could go to the HP website for drivers and download one manually: Click here (select your OS and look for CD/DVD drivers)
Keep me posted for further assistance,
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

From: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files, and various streaming protocols.
So, instead of trying to use Windows Media Player, use VLC to play your DVD.

Hi
I can now play DVD’s as in choose option (VLD) is presented.
So, congratulation and thank you very very much. I’m never going to refresh that operating system option again
Updating the drivers had no effect. Removed and reinstalled many times and I had every indication that was updated correctly, Although I did not try the HP manual download option.
However, I cannot now install and old game (Far Cry) I had running before my renewal of W10...as follows
The installation starts correctly then stops with
Error 1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult windows installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Whats your advice?

Thanks for the advice; I tried that, amongst other things at that frantic time. I’m not sure what the exact solution was in the end. Registry cleaner and various other scans to remove all remains of the game. Now all seems to be back to normal. Thank you very much
