@CarlosDSM, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
When encountering a message stating that there is not enough free disk space to complete a BIOS update, you will need to free up disk space on your HP OMEN Desktop PC before you can proceed. Here is how you can address the issue:
Steps to Free Up Disk Space
Delete Unnecessary Files and Apps:
- Navigate to Settings > System > Storage.
- Select the drive you wish to clean (usually C: drive).
- Remove temporary files, unused apps, and large files that are no longer needed.
Use Disk Cleanup:
- From the Start menu, search for Disk Cleanup.
- Select the drive (usually C:) and choose the types of files you want to delete.
- Let Disk Cleanup calculate the space you can free, and then proceed to clean up.
Clearing More Space:
- Consider deleting old system restore points if unnecessary.
- Empty the recycle bin.
Check for Large Files:
- Use Windows File Explorer to search for large and old files that can be removed or transferred to an external storage device.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hey @CarlosDSM,
Thank you for your response.
It's likely a BIOS update tool misreporting available space or a firmware environment issue.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this BIOS update issue:
Run HP Support Assistant
Download or open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu
Go to "Updates" and check if the BIOS update is listed
Let the tool manage the update process automatically
Use HP BIOS Update via USB (BIOS Flash Utility)
Insert an empty USB drive (at least 1GB, formatted as FAT32)
Download the BIOS update (SPxxxxxx.exe) from HP’s site
Run the file and select:
“Create Recovery USB flash drive”
Restart the PC and press ESC, then F9 or F10 to enter BIOS or Boot Menu
Select the USB and run the update from UEFI environment
Check Windows Update and Firmware Drivers
Make sure Windows is up to date:
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates
Install all optional firmware or driver updates
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
