Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I work in Photoshop, and some of its features are not available on my computer. Adobe advises upgrading to latest graphics driver as a first step. The driver currently in my computer is Intel Graphics 530, which Adobe supports. When I attempted to upgrade to Intel's latest driver, I received a message that HP uses a modified Intel driver and that using a generic driver could cause (unspecified) problems. I could not find a driver from HP that was newer than what is in my machine. My questions: 1. If i install Intel's generic driver, what are my risks? and 2. What is HP's latest custom graphics driver for my machine, and where can I find it? (None of HP's upgrade alerts have ever referenced the graphics driver. Have they never upgraded their custom driver since I bought my computer?) Thank you for your help. I will be most appreciative.

Hi:

You should be able to bypass the Intel driver gatekeeper as follows...

First, create a system restore point so you can easily revert to your current status if updating the driver causes problems.

I have never experienced any issues by updating the driver with a generic one, but you never know.

Download and save the latest Intel W10 driver for the HD 530.   Use the zip file.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26941/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-46-?pr...

Unzip the file to its folder.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.
