HP Pavilion p7-1225

I have a p7-1225 that is almost 8 years old. Factory Specs for the board, with the exception of my RAM sticks. I have two 4GB sticks right now to give me a total of 8GB RAM. I wanted to upgrade my motherboard to allow for more RAM and a better CPU. I wasn't sure if there is a motherboard that can hold 4 to 6 RAM sticks and better RAM rates than just 8GB. I'm trying to prolong the life of my system without breaking the bank to drop $1,000+ on a new tower when my hard-drives, graphics, and current internals have no issues than speed and memory.

Can anyone assist in what and where to purchase if my motherboard is up-gradable?

Save your money -- as even if you COULD increase the memory from 8GB to 16GB, that would provide no noticeable improvement in performance, and would do nothing to extend the life of the PC.

 

IF you want to improve the performance, replacing the HDD with a SDD will get you significant improvement.
