I love using my Mac and my all in one but I wish there was a way I could use the all in one as just a monitor, and I saw it had a HDMI port and so I purchased a HDMI to USBC cable in hopes it would work but it hasn't.
Ive learnt that it is an output only HDMI port. which isn't ideal. But I was just wondering if there is anyway around this? as if there's some way I can connect my hp as a second screen to my Mac.

You need an external monitor or TV set for the Mac to connect to.
Alternately you can project using WiFi to a smart TV or system with a (for example) Roku
You an install the free splashtop streamer on the Mac and splashtop client on the AIO but that gives you remote desktop, not a second monitor.
