Hi @5CD129FLLG,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop's USB not being recognized!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Perform a Hard Reset
This helps clear temporary glitches with hardware detection.
Shut down your laptop completely.
Unplug the charger and disconnect all USB devices.
Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
Reconnect the charger and power on the laptop.
Plug in the USB device again to test.
Check Device Manager
Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
Scroll down and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
If you see an entry that says “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”, right-click on it and select Uninstall.
After uninstalling, restart your laptop, Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
Update Chipset & USB Drivers
Go to the HP Support Website → Enter your model number (HP Laptop 15s-fr2000) → Download and install:
The latest Chipset Driver
Any listed USB drivers
BIOS Update (if available)
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Press F2 repeatedly while booting up → Select Component Tests > USB Test.
Run the test to check if there are hardware issues with the USB ports.
I hope this helps.
