I want to update the bios version in my desktop. It came with w7 in 2011-12, but I have upgraded the O.S to W10 since. Please tell me what the latest version is and best way to update. Many thanks for your help.

I looked at: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-sg3-300-desktop-pc-series/5035296/model/5038...
and there are no listed BIOS-updates for your computer, neither associated with "Windows 7" nor with "Windows 8".
Presumably, there are no BIOS-updates needed for your computer to run Windows 10.
However, "stay tuned" -- HP might soon issue a BIOS-update addressing the well-publicized "Meltdown" and "Spectre" vulnerabilities, for your computer.

Microsoft says that Windows 10 is the final release of Windows -- there never will be a "Windows Eleven" release.
On your computer, "Windows Update" runs automatically, to update your computer with the latest performance and security fixes.
In the input-area just to the right of the bottom-left corner of your Windows desktop, type: WINVER
and press ENTER, to see which version of Windows 10 that you have, e.g., '1511' or '1607' or '1703' or '1709'
(11th month of 2015, 7th month of 2016, 3rd month of 2017, 9th month of 2017).
