HP ProDesk 400 G2 MT
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

on my computer box there was a stick saying (more or less, translating from italian) "the system has Windows 7 Pro installed and has also a licence and media for Windows 10".

Actually no media was provided, but as I have a valid licence of Windows 10 for this PC, how can obtain installation files for the new operating system? (And which version can I install?).

Thanks in advance

Massimiliano

Hi, Massimiliano:

You can install W10 by creating a bootable USB installation drive by using the media creation tool at the link below.

You will need an 8 GB flash drive for this purpose.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

or you can use the HP cloud recovery client utility found on your PC's support page to create installation media.

You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for that purpose.

This package provides the Cloud Recovery Client for supported models running a supported operating system. This Client Utility enables users to download the Recovery Kit from the cloud.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85318.exe

I have attached the instructions below for how to use the cloud recovery client utility.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your reply and the instructions too, they are really easy to follow.

I'm trying the Microsoft solution as Cluod Recovery Client doesn't seem to work properly: it reads the serial no. of the PC, but cannot recognize the model correctly and, skipping the automatic recognition, I'm not able to find my exact model in the proposed list (there are many ProDesk 400 G2, but not the MT one).

I'll let you know if everything runs well.

You're very welcome.

Great, it worked.

It taked several hours, but now I'm working on my PC upgraded to Win 10, keeping apps and settings I had on Win7.

Thank you again.
