HP All-In-One Desktop 24-g237c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My desktop PC is up-to-date with the exception that I have not received the Windows 10 2018 Fall Creators update.  My current OS version is 1803, build 17134.376.  I undestand that the new version, 1809 is available for download.  While my current version is working normally, I think it's best that I receive the latest version from Microsoft; support, security et al.

I can't seem to find information why it hasn't been delivered to me. Perhaps I have a driver incompatibility, but I can't find information on that.

What I hope to find from the community is information which will either inform me on delivery timelines which Microsoft is working towards or things I could check to ensure that if my computer is not ready for the update because of a missing driver or similar issue that I could take steps to resolve.

Thanks, Community. Dan

Hi, Dan:

Microsoft recalled the release of v1809 because of many reports from those who downloaded it or had it delivered via Windows update, of files disappearing as a result of the upgrade.

I can share with you that this happened to me personally, when I jumped at the chance to install v1809 when it was available for download on the media creation tool website.  It is no longer available for download.

While it was of no consequence to me that my entire downloads folder with dozens of files was empty after the update, and the files not present in the Windows.old folder, I simply restored the files from my backup drive...this was the amazing part...

After the cumulative W10 updates that came out through October, all the files in my downloads folder disappeared after each cumulative update ran.  I restored them and they disappeared again and again.

This happened to me 3 times before I decided to restore the PC to my October 1, 2018 v1803 backup image.

v1809 affected other file folders.  Some folks lost all of the files in their documents folder.

I upgraded 3 other PC's to v1809, and nothing went wrong.

So, Microsoft is trying to figure out what went wrong, and as of press time, no v.1809 re-release date has been advertised.

That is why you haven't received the update, and why the v1809 download is no longer available on the W10 media creation tool website.

Thanks Paul.  I did also find John Cable's blog on the Microsoft community site:  https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/10/09/updated-version-of-windows-10-october-2018-up... .  This was recommended by one of the senior advisors.  I appreciate your reply.  Cheers, Dan
