Product: G62-340US
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
- I've been working on my neighbors old G62-340US laptop on and off a little over a year. It was supposed to be a simple "Restore to Factory Setting" but everytime I tried it would fail at final reboot. I even tried my own MS installation disks but they were upgrades only. Then I thought I'd wipe the active partitions and reformat the drive, but learned that I had wiped what I believe was the MBR and so I put the laptop back on the shelf until I can find a d/l or buy the OEM disks for that model. Any suggestions or an I on the right track now that I botched it up?!

W7 is not available for download anymore from Microsoft.
You should be able to reinstall from an upgrade disk though:
Clean Install of Windows 7 from a Windows 7 Upgrade disk? - Microsoft Community
If not, then the only other suggestion I can offer would be to order recovery media for the PC from this vendor:
Computer Surgeons - Windows 7 64B Recovery Kit 629985-001 For HP Notebook PC Model Number G62-340US
