I was prompted to do an update, like any other time. Turning the PC on the next day, my windows was bare minimum, as like default. Some pop up stating Unable to log on to your account (not those exact words) I had 4 apps or icons – Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Recycle Bin & Microsoft Teams. All my files & app downloads GONE. My Norton disabled & in default mode. My google brower, my set ups, favorites, everything gone. It prompted me to set up Microsoft Edge as my new Browser, making me believe this was a Microsoft Edge update that happened.
How do I get my set up and items back?? I tried to do create a restore point choosing 1 day prior to the upgrade. Did not take. Tried twice

@Mr_Earp2021 -- all your desktop icons and your Start Menu are stored in a "profile".
If you have created multiple login IDs on your computer ("Mom", "Dad", "Daughter") there is a "profile for each ID.
If Windows has failed to load your profile, then a "default" profile is created -- black screen, no icons, et cetera.
Can you open the folder: C:\Users ?
Within that folder, there is a "profile" for each ID.
Can you open the sub-folder that matches your logon ID, to view your "Desktop" sub-sub-folder?
What's inside that folder?
