HP Pavilion Elite HPE-590uk Desktop PC

Microsoft PC Health check is stating that my CPU which is an Intel® Core™ i7-2600 (4 cores - 8mb - 3.4GHz) is incompatible with Windows 11 - however its specs  appears to be far in excess of the stated minimum requirements for Windows 11, so I don't understand why it is stating that it isn't compatible.  Can anyone please advise?

This system was designed for windows 7, not 11

The only drivers I could find are for windows 7 and 8

The bios has not been updated since 2011 and probably does not support modern graphics cards that require UEFI bios.

If not already upgraded, you should be able to install windows 10 and use the win 7 or 8 key to activate.

Good Luck

Hi, @Only1gibbo

I can tell you exactly why your PC does not meet any of the W11 requirements.

1. The i7-2600 processor is not supported.  Needs to be an Intel 8th gen core processor.

Here is Microsoft's list of the currently supported processors for W11:

Windows processor requirements Windows 11 supported Intel processors | Microsoft Learn

2. Your PC does not have a TPM 2.0 security device.

3.  Your PC does not have a UEFI BIOS

4.  Your PC does not support Secure Boot.

All 4 of these requirements have to be met in order to get the W11 update directly via Windows Update.

If you have W10 installed on your PC, and If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
