HP Z240 Tower Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I have just changed my i7 6700 processor for a win 11 friendlier i5 9500. after installing this and connecting the power lead, before i hit the pc on button, i get 3 deep beeps in time with 3 red flashes of the power button, then 5 higher beeps in time with  white led flashes.

This repeats until i turn the mains off.

Bios has been updated.

ironically if i refit the i6700 it boots ok

Any ideas folks?

thanks

@Mewpman,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Yea, an HP Z240 Workstation is only compatible with 6th and 7th gen Intel processors.

But not to worry: there are various ways to safely and effectively upgrade your PC to Windows 11, such as this easy-to-follow YouTube instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrmhhigEhY&t=332s&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

Kind Regards,

Hello @NonSequitur777. I don't know why, but I can't post a new topic in this forum (I think my account has a kind of bug). I'm in need for help to upgrade my Omen X 900-80nz I saw you helped somebody in the past with this PC. It is possible for you to create the topic like that I can post in it or talk about it here ?

Thanks a lot, sorry to post that here.
