You're very welcome.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Well I was hopefull.

z600 PC was installing the 5.2026 security update and I saw the process again, rebooted at 30%. I thought ok, we should be ok. But after it finished the installation, it booted again, however i'm getting a new message at the boot BIOS screen: disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del

Won't go past this. Now I'm not sure if HDD is bad or this particular update did something.

I'm going to imaging last nights Win11 build prior to 4-2026 Preview on a brand new unopened 1Tb SSD and see if that does same thing or not. Wondering what is happening now. Oy vay.

I'm currently trying to install a newest Win11 build that is past the 4-2026 Preview date on Win11 SSD that I reimaged last night. Going to see if anything changes.

Wondering if the Z600 HW PC is going to be problematic for Win11.

I once had a somewhat related issue with my HP 6930p notebook when I installed a SSD in place of the mechanical hard drive.

W10 would install but when I turned on the PC, or restarted it, Windows would not load...gave various errors such as boot device not found and whatnot.

If you have not done so already, you may want to try installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver for W8 from your PC's support page and see if that helps any.

HP Z600 Base Model Workstation Software and Driver Details

I used the W7 driver for my notebook running on W10 since that was the newest one available.

It's possible the drive may have an issue, but I would rule out a software problem first.

Then of course it could be an issue with W11 25H2 and the Z600.

There's not enough info on the Z600 because there are probably not a lot of folks like us that install W11 on older unsupported W11 PCs.

So install the Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver before trying to apply the update?

As for the Re-Imaged 1TB SSD with last nights Win11 prior to 4-2026 Preview Update,

Checking WU again, the 4-26 is there. Select Download + Install.

So I ran the WUHideSHow app, it does not see this update. I sees the 5-2026 security update though.

Wondering if the closing of the 4-2026 update and installing the 5-2026 update is still downloading the 4-2026 as well.

Im installing the Rapid Tech Storage driver now on Win11 now and will give it another go.

So far I've been able to install 25H2 on two z640s. Checking my one PC i'm on now has two security updates at 4-2026 and 5-2026. I don't see a preview in the list. These have UEFI and Secure Boot support.

I have another z210 SFF PC as well and it's got these updates as well for 25H2. This doesn't have secure boot support however has UEFI and MBR security options. May have been some 1st generation features back then.

I have a EliteBook 6560w that I just installed 25H2 Public release on. None of these updates are in the history however maybe too soon to show anything or something else is making this laptop not see anything. I'll keep checking. Laptop has UEFI support however i don't see specific secure boot features. Some other security options.

Ok so the 4-2026 Preview is not seen on the main update window, however it's seen under the Advanced Options and other updates there. It's not checked for download or install.

I used the main update window and rechecked for updates and is now downloading the 5-2026 security update.

With the Intel Rapid Storage driver installed, Fingers crossed.

While the 5-2026 Security Updated got downloaded and its now installing, I checked the optional updates under Advanced and the 4-2026 Preview is now missing. Not sure if this got downloaded or is being skipped.

I guess we'll find out soon.

So after that, got same condition after 30% and reboot, then after getting to 100% installation of the 5-2026 security update, the PC rebooted and got same condition at BIOS screen, read error, ctrl +del to restart PC.

Something this paritular update is corrupting something in the boot process. While the 4-2026 Preview is doing similar but not giving same read error.

So points to something in these updates for Z600 PC is doing something. Not sure if it's security certificate related or maybe something MS is doing at the boot level. It's messed up for sure.

Sorry that installing the IRST driver didn't help.

I'm baffled as to why that is happening but I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Ya it's depressing and frustrating.

I'm going to try one  more thing on the z600 and see if anything still happens.

I guess MS needs to fix this as other are having issues as well.

I posted over in the tomsHW forums today on a thread with similar issues and the 4-2026 update causing what there seeing.

I guess if MS doesn't do anything, the Z600 may just not work past 23H2. Wondering if that has issues. Oh well. I've spent enough time of this. Not much else I can do. Can wait it out and see how the next month or two does in updates and if MS changes anything. Narrowed it down to these updates and the 2nd boot sequence seems to break to boot process.

Again thank you for all you have given. We tried.
