@8CG0414Q08, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion x360 - 14-dh1180tu shows that it's plugged in and the charging light is on, but the battery isn’t charging, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to potentially resolve the issue:
Basic Checks
- Reconnect the Charger: Unplug the charger and reconnect it, ensuring it’s properly seated in both the laptop and the wall socket.
- Try Another Power Outlet or Charger: If you have access to another charger, try using it, or plug the charger into a different outlet.
- Power Reset: Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power, then try turning it on and charging again.
Check Battery Status in Windows
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Batteries section.
- Right-click and uninstall both:
- Microsoft AC Adapter
- Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
BIOS Battery Check
HP laptops have a built-in battery test:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately tap Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Choose Component Tests > Power > Battery Test and run it.
- Take note of the battery status (e.g., "Battery OK," "Replace Battery").
Update BIOS and Drivers
Sometimes, a BIOS or chipset issue can prevent charging:
- Go to the HP Support Page for your model.
- Download the latest BIOS, chipset, and power management drivers.
- Install the updates and restart your laptop.
Check Battery Health in HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant.
- Go to Battery > Battery Check.
- It will show the battery condition (Good, Weak, or Replace).
- If the health is poor, the battery might need to be replaced.
Run Windows Power Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Power troubleshooter to identify and fix any power-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
