I was trying to turn down the brightness on my HP laptop and next thing i knew the screen had gone dark. i knew when the computer was turning off and on thanks to my colorful mouse but the screen wasn’t showing anything. I decided to restart my laptop but when i did it was doing an automatic BIOS update. Should I be worried or is everything fine?

Hi @0caprisun0

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the display issue.

To better assist you -

1.) May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

2.) Is the computer back on again after the update?

This could be due to the automatic updates from HP Support Assistant.

Let me know.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
