Do you mean you want to upgrade your HP ProDesk 600 G4 Desktop Mini PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
As far as I know, Microsoft still allows this upgrade, quote: "If your existing Windows 10 PC is running the current version of Windows 10 and meets the minimum hardware specifications to run Windows 11, it will be able to upgrade." Since your platform is fitted with an 8th gen processor, you should be good to go without any 'special' steps: Can I upgrade to Windows 11? - Microsoft Support.
As a precaution, back up any important data on your computer before proceeding with the upgrade.
You can use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive for upgrading your desktop from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Here are the steps to do this:
Download Windows 11 ISO:
- First, download the Windows 11 ISO file from the official Microsoft website (see: Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)). Make sure you download the correct version (e.g., Windows 11 Home or Pro) and the edition (e.g., 64-bit or 32-bit) that matches your existing Windows 10 installation.
Download Rufus:
- If you don't have Rufus installed on your computer, you can download it from the official Rufus website (https://rufus.ie/).
Insert a USB Drive:
- Insert a USB drive with at least 16GB of storage capacity into your computer. Be aware that all data on this drive will be erased during the process, so make sure to back up any important data.
Run Rufus:
- Run the Rufus application.
Configure Rufus:
- In Rufus, select the USB drive you inserted in the "Device" dropdown menu.
Select the Windows 11 ISO:
- In the "Boot selection" section, click on "Select" and navigate to the Windows 11 ISO file you downloaded in Step 1. Select it.
Partition Scheme:
- In the "Partition scheme" section, select the appropriate scheme. If your computer uses UEFI, select "GPT." If it uses BIOS or Legacy mode, select "MBR."
File System:
- In the "File system" section, select "NTFS" as the file system.
Cluster Size:
- You can leave the cluster size as the default value.
Volume Label:
- You can enter a name for the volume label if you want. This is the name your USB drive will have.
Quick Format:
- Ensure the "Quick Format" option is checked.
Create a Bootable Disk:
- In the "Create a bootable disk using" section, select "ISO Image."
Start the Process:
- Click on the "Start" button. Rufus will display a warning that all data on the USB drive will be destroyed. Make sure you've backed up any important data and then click "OK" to proceed.
Wait for Rufus to Complete:
- Rufus will start creating the bootable USB drive. This process may take some time. Once it's finished, Rufus will show "READY" in the status bar at the bottom.
Eject the USB Drive:
- Safely eject the USB drive from your computer.
Boot from the USB Drive:
- Restart your computer, and during the boot process, access the boot menu or enter the BIOS/UEFI settings to set the USB drive as the primary boot device. The method for doing this varies depending on your computer's manufacturer, so consult your computer's documentation for guidance.
Install Windows 11:
- Once your computer boots from the USB drive, follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade your Windows 10 installation to Windows 11.
Please note that creating a bootable USB drive with Rufus is an involved, technical process, and it's important to follow the steps carefully to avoid any data loss or errors during the upgrade. If you aren't quite sure or comfortable doing this by yourself, please seek the assistance of a knowledgeable, trusted acquaintance, relative or friend.
Kind Regards,
