I got the following message on login today and need advice please.I have run HP disk checkup 

[quick version) and no error report.I notice that I have the option to reinstall operating sys,would I loose my pics/notes ext?

Greetings,

 

You should immediately back up user data to an external USB stick or external USB drive.

 

This error indicates either: the system drive or a second data drive could fail at any time in the future.

 

Yes. data loss will happen if you reinstall the operating system and you store data on the system drive.

 

You should probably replace the failing drive as soon as possible. to be safe.

many thanks for the info. I will back up my files and by the sounds of it I need to take desktop to computer shop for drive replacement. thanks again have a great weekend
