I am getting a Secure Boot Violation message. Invalid signature detected. What do I do about it?

Hi @rchard3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

From your description, the system is showing: Boot Device Not Found & Secure Boot Violation – Invalid Signature Detected. This generally means the system is unable to detect a valid operating system on the internal drive, or the boot files are corrupted or blocked by Secure Boot. Before taking any recovery action, we need to clearly determine whether this is a hardware (drive) issue or a software/OS issue.

Step 1: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2 Test)

Please go through this carefully:

  1. Turn the PC OFF completely
  2. Turn it ON and immediately tap F2 repeatedly
  3. This will open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Step 2: Run Storage Test (Very Important)

Inside diagnostics:

  1. Select Component Tests
  2. Click Storage
  3. Run:
    • Quick Test
    • Then the Extensive Test

Take your time and observe:

  • You may hear the system checking the drive
  • Watch if the test completes smoothly or shows an error

👉 If you see a failure ID, share it exactly (it helps us identify the fault quickly)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I ran the tests and no error message. I am still getting the Invalid signature detected. Check Secure boot policy in setup message.
